FAQ

Are you an engineer? Do you have an engineer on staff?

No, but almost all of our projects have an engineer design. Our 35+ years of experience and continued technical training allow us to diagnose most projects and provide a written estimate with actual cost figures and scope of work including engineering costs. We work with several different engineers though-out the state that each has their own specialties based on the individual project and type of work.

When can you start the project?

In general, the process starts as soon as we receive a signed proposal and deposit. Our office will arrange for the engineer site visit and start preparing the necessary paperwork for the township permits. Allow 2 weeks for this process. The township has up to 28 days to process the permits once they receive all necessary paperwork. We normally start work directly after the permits are issued.

How long will the work take?

The length of work will depend on the individual project. Please contact our office to discuss timing.

Can the house / structure be occupied during the work?

Yes, in most instances, you will be able to stay in your home / building during the work that we are performing.

Are permits required?

Because the work that we perform is structural in nature, most of our jobs require permits. We are happy to work directly with the township on your permits and answer any questions that you may have about the permit process.

Are permit costs included in your proposal? How much will the permit cost?

Permit filing and all correspondence between our office and the township are included. The actual cost of the permit is based on a percentage of the cost of the job and other fees to be determined by each individual township. For this reason, the actual cost of the permit is unknown until the permits are issued and must be paid by the client in addition to the amount listed in our proposal.

What are your typical work hours?

Our standard office hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm; our workers are out in the field 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday.

What insurance do you carry?

McAuliffe Contractors is a fully insured company. Our employees are covered by Workers Compensation and General Liability insurances. We can provide bonds for both public and larger commercial projects upon request prior to proposal issuance.
